It is always a pleasure to be a part of the annual CharityWorks Dream Ball at the National Building Museum. With Obsidian Obsession as the night’s theme, the room was filled with dark and metallic décor that reflected the obsidian stone. The evening began with a cocktail hour and silent auction full of specialty drinks and passed hors d’oeuvres. Among the various hors d’oeuvres were: bacon blue cheese mini sirloin burgers, grilled baby lamb chops, caviar on purple potatoes, smoked salmon roulades, black olive crostinis, and mini beet and goat cheese salads.
Once the guests had taken their seats, the dark room struck to life with a thrilling aerialist performance that had the whole room captivated. Afterwards Susan Gage Caterers started the meal with an amuse bouche of butternut squash soup sips with corn madeleines followed by a lobster and purple Cherokee tomato salad. The entrée was thoughtfully arranged to reflect the evening’s theme with black pepper crusted beef tenderloin, beet risotto, purple, red and white potatoes with rosemary and shallots, roasted purple cauliflower and heirloom maroon baby carrots. Immediately following was a miniature dessert trio of black cherry croustades, caramel popcorn sundaes, and chocolate blackberry tartlets.
With the night’s beneficiaries being Fisher House and Capital Partners for Education, Susan Gage Caterers was honored to join Charity Works at the 2013 Dream Ball: Obsidian Obsession.
